Lions Waive LB Trevor Bates, Sign Three To Practice Squad

The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’ve waived LB Trevor Bates and signed three players to their practice squad including DT John Atkins, CB Cre’Von LeBlanc and DE Eric Lee.

The Lions’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB Alex Barrett
  2. CB Mike Ford
  3. WR Chris Lacy
  4. S Rolan Milligan
  5. QB Jake Rudock
  6. LB Darnell Sankey
  7. OL Dan Skipper
  8. DT John Atkins
  9. CB Cre’Von LeBlanc
  10. DE Eric Lee

Bates, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Colts back in 2016. He was on and off of the Colts’ active roster during his rookie season before signing on to the Patriots’ practice squad toward the end of the year.

New England brought Bates back on a futures contract last year, but he was once again cut loose at the start of the season and later added to their practice squad. He had a brief stint with the Giants to close out the season.

The Lions signed Bates to a contract this past May.

During his college career, Bates appeared in 46 games and recorded 207 tackles, 19 sacks, 10 passes defenses, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions and two defensive touchdowns.
