Lions Waive WR Jordan Smallwood

The Detroit Lions officially waived WR Jordan Smallwood on Thursday.

This move creates a roster spot for newly signed WR Jermaine Kearse

Smallwood, 24, wound up signing on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2017. Unfortunately, the Chiefs waived him coming out of the preseason.

Smallwood signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad last year and returned to San Francisco on a futures contract after the season. However, he was waived last month and eventually caught on with the Lions soon after.

During this four-year college career at Oklahoma, Smallwood caught 18 passes for 170 yards receiving and one touchdown to go along with four rushing attempts for 16 and two scores over the course of 21 games.
