Lions Working Out QB Tajh Boyd

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, citing a league source, reports that the Lions will be working out former Clemson QB Tajh Boyd on Tuesday.

Both Lions backup quarterback, Dan Orlovsky and Kellen Moore, will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks, so it won’t be surprising to see them kick the tires on a few options this offseason.

Boyd was taken the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft by the New York Jets. However, he was unable to make the team’s final 53-man roster and was released just before the start of the season.

He later signed a contract with the Florida Blacktips of the FXFL.

Since being released by the Jets, Boyd has worked out for Bills, Giants, and Redskins, but never received an offer from these teams.

During his four-year career at Clemson, Boyd throw for 11,904 yards and completed 64.3 percent of his passes to go along with 107 touchdowns and 39 interceptions.
