According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions are planning to work out S Jaylen Watkins this week.
Watkins was last with the Texans but was cut a couple of weeks ago coming out of training camp.
Watkins, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2014. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and had a brief stint on the Bills’ practice squad before returning to the Eagles toward the end of the 2015 season.
The Eagles signed Watkins to a one-year exclusive rights deal for the 2017 season only to declined to tender him a restricted offer the following year. He later returned to the Chargers. He signed a two-year deal with the Texans this offseason before being released.
In 2019, Watkins appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and recorded 28 tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.
