According to former NFL GM Michael Lombardi, there are a number of semi-prominent veteran players available via trade as the NFL enters draft week.
Lombardi lists Colts S Malik Hooker, Raiders DT P.J. Hall, Eagles CB Rasul Douglas and Bears TE Adam Shaheen as players currently available.
Of that group, Hooker is easily the most prominent as a former first-round pick of the Colts. Despite flashes, Hooker has not yet been able to live up to his draft slot, partially due to injury.
Indianapolis also has a decision to make on Hooker’s fifth-year option this summer, which will be fully guaranteed under the new CBA as opposed to guaranteed for injury only.
Per Stephen Holder, the Colts have received trade calls regarding Hooker but are not actively shopping him at this time.
The other players on Lombardi’s list, like Hall, Shaheen and Douglas, are also relatively high draft picks who have underperformed with their original teams. Douglas has reportedly been on the trading block since March.
Hooker, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Colts back in 2017. He’s currently entering the final year of his four-year, $12.6 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $2.18 million in 2020.
In 2019, Hooker appeared in 13 games for the Colts and recorded 51 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and three pass defenses.
Douglas, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.17 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $754,750 for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Douglas appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 35 tackles, no interceptions and 10 passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 cornerback receiver out of 113 qualifying players.
Hall, 25, was selected in the second round of by the Raiders out of Sam Houston State in 2018. According to OverTheCap.com, he received a four-year, $4,713,470 contract that included a $1,507,976 signing bonus.
