ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has reported that the Arizona Cardinals are ready to move from Matt Leinart and have discussed the quarterback with the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants and the Oakland Raiders.
Yesterday we suggested that the Giants may be a match given their lack of depth at the position but Leinart has mentioned that he would like to start for an NFL team instead of remaining the teams secondary option.
Of the mentioned teams, the Bills would give him the best chance at starting but the Bill’s have stated that they have yet to discuss trading for Leinart which leaves will him with limited options.
Unless some one steps up and makes a decent offer for the former USC standout, he may end up as the Cardinals backup to start the season or could even be cut as surprising as that sounds.
This situation has progressed pretty fast in the last week since the Cardinals decided to go with Derek Anderson as their preseason starter. Leinart hasn’t actually played that bad for the team which may suggest that there is more going on behind the scenes. There will no doubt be more on this later.
