After suffering a tough loss last night to the division rival New England Patriots, the Miami Dolphins have made headlines because of a coaching change as well as a possible quarterback switch.
- The Miami Dolphins have fired their Special Teams Coordinator John Bonamego. The Dolphins special teams allowed two blocked kicks, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and a 103 yard kickoff return for another touchdown. The firing isn’t all that surprising given that there had already been some internal discussions about Bonamego. Sparano added that “this was a tough decision, I thank Bono for all he’s done. Players need to take responsibility too.”
- That leads us to the Dolphins quarterback play. Chad Henne was benched during the fourth-quarter after his third interception of the game. While the interception may not have been his fault, Henne struggled with his accuracy throughout the game and made some very poor decision early on. He was replaced by Tyler Thigpen who wasn’t any better. ESPN Chris Mortensen reported that the team is concerned about Henne’s play and could end up starting Chad Pennington in his place. The Dolphins are already a long shot to win their division so they will likely make a change if they feel that it will give them their best chance of winning.
