NFL Notes: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, & Vikings

Dolphins

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins’ coaching staff seems to view QB Ryan Tannehill has more of a “game manager” than an elite quarterback.

In fact, Dolphins interim HC Dan Campbellย explained as much to Salguero a few weeks ago.

โ€œWhat Iโ€™ve told Ryan is, โ€˜I donโ€™t need Superman.โ€™ โ€ฆ I just want to make sure my message to him is donโ€™t try to be someone youโ€™re not,โ€ Campbell said. โ€œJust manage the game for us. Make the throws that are there, which he will.โ€

However, this apparently differs with from the view of the front office, who are reportedly convinced Tannehill has franchise-quarterback skills and can be a top-10 quarterback when all is said and done.

Jets

Jets DE Sheldon Richardson believes he has a strong enough to case to prevent him from being suspension once his arrest from this past summer is settled in court.

โ€œIโ€™m pretty sure Iโ€™ll have a strong case for not getting suspended,โ€ Richardson said, via the New York Daily News. โ€œIf a fine comes with it… Iโ€™m willing to accept anything, really. But, most definitely, as far as missing games, I really donโ€™t want to do that.โ€

Regarding whether he and DE Muhammadย Wilkerson will both have their contracts addressed during the offseason,ย Richardson said he understands the situation no matter how it plays out.

โ€œWe both understand the situation,โ€ Richardson said. โ€œItโ€™s his hometown. If he gets it and I donโ€™t โ€” I got one more year left. You never know what happens after that. I wouldnโ€™t mind him staying in his own hometown. If I get the boot, then so (be it)… but you never know. Moโ€™s having a Pro Bowl season right now. His resume is going to be a little bit cleaner than mine.โ€
