Cardinals

Regarding the Cardinals’ 0-3-1 start to the season, GM Steve Keim said he accepts the criticism that comes with his job, but he’s still excited about Arizona’s roster.

This is a results-based business,” Keim said, via Darren Urban of the team’s official site. “When you take these (GM) positions and certainly the position I’m in, you have to have thick skin and be prepared for the criticism that, quite frankly, a lot of times it’s accurate. You don’t want to get too high on the highs, when you are Executive of the Year, and you don’t want to get too low on the lows. You’ve got to stay consistent, you’ve got to stay confident in yourself — which I do — and I’m excited with some of the things we are doing.”

Keim added that his expectations for the Cardinals are to simply win every week.

That’s the business we are in,” said Keim. “I don’t make excuses and I don’t think we as an organization make excuses. So to our fans, we have to get better. continue to grow, and my expectation is to try and win every week.”

Cowboys

Regarding his foot and ankle injuries, Cowboys WR Amari Cooper said his 2014 Iron Bowl game with Alabama, where he played through a knee injury, inspired him to play through injury issues from that point on.

“I was in a lot of pain,” said Cooper, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “But I ended up having the best game that I’ve ever had as a player. So since that time, I told myself I would always play through injuries because you never know how the day or the night might turn out to be. I’m always going to play.”

Cooper explained that playing through his left knee injury while in college was “all mental” with some adjustments to Alabama’s gameplan.

“It was really all mental, but it was some game-planning too,” Cooper said. “My left knee was hurting and I couldn’t really plant off of it how I wanted to or how I needed to to get separation. Most of the plays that I got open on were me planting off my right foot. Those are the two things that helped me out that game.”
