Saints

Saints HC Sean Payton mentioned that they’re considering a number of options regarding their offensive line as they look to replace veteran RT Zach Strief.

We spent a lot of time talking, just in regards to who do we want at right tackle, and we’ve got a couple different options,” Payton said, via the Times-Picayune. “And we’ll go in with the best plan.”

Jos Katzenstein writes that the option for the Saints could be to move rookie Ryan Ramczyk to right tackle once Terron Armstead is healthy enough to return.

“We’ve discussed three different scenarios, and we’re going to do what we think is best for this game,” Payton said. “But, there’s really three potential different things and we’ll be smart about what we do. Where they line up, we’ll wait and see on game day.”

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that the Saints should consider trading RB Adrian Peterson to a team in need of a running back such as the Cardinals after Week 2.
  • Peterson has expressed some frustration with his role and Florio believes it would be a mistake for New Orleans to give in and adjust his role to keep him happy.
  • Instead, Florio thinks the Saints would be better off acquiring a conditional seventh-round pick for Peterson and move forward with their other running back options.
