Commanders
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson called himself a “versatile” running back and is working on his skill as a receiver.
“Iโm versatile. Itโs just perfecting those techniques, getting my receiver game back down. Iโve got running back down. I feel like I can always improve. I feel like I got it down, I know what I need to do, and Iโm coming in and Iโm going to do it,” said Gibson, via Aaron Wilson.
Gibson feels that he makes a strong “1-2 punch” with RB J.D. McKissic and is still learning from his fellow running back.
“Weโre a 1-2 punch combo,โ Gibson said. โThey rely on him a lot on third downs as far as catching passes. Iโm very capable of doing that, too. Itโs just the scheme and how they want to work me. I love working with him. I was glad J.D. came back to the team. It gives me more time to learn from him. I love learning from him. Heโs been helping me out.โ
Gibson is excited about the organization’s rebranding to become the Commanders and called next season a “new start” for the organization.
โItโs a change with the team,โ Gibson said. โI feel like weโre making a lot of changes. Weโre building. Weโre working to change our whole organization around. Itโs a new start. Weโre going to rock with it. I love the new uniforms and ready to get out here and show people what we got.โ

Giants
- The Athletic’s Dan Duggan thinks Giants QB Daniel Jones will have some leash to start the season. But if he and the team are struggling, he doesn’t rule out Jones being benched for veteran QB Tyrod Taylor.
- Duggan also thinks there’s a 99.9 percent chance WR Kadarius Toney is on the Giants’ roster in Week 1 of 2022. Week 1 of 2023 is a different story, and Duggan adds Toney apparently not being at voluntary OTAs is not a good look.
- Duggan doesn’t get the sense the Giants are really looking at Notre Dame S Kyle Hamilton with one of their first-round picks.
- Giants T Roy Mbaeteka will receive a three-year, $2.6 million contract that includes $207,000 guaranteed, the equivalent of the practice squad salary for 2022. (Dan Duggan)
- The Giants are scheduled to host Oklahoma LB Brian Asamoah for a visit next week. (Ryan Fowler)
