NFC Notes: Drew Brees, Eagles, Panthers, & Redskins

Drew Brees

• Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Saints QB Drew Brees still doesn’t know if he can play Sunday, due to his rotator cuff injury.
• Werder adds that Brees is still working hard to get to that point.

Eagles

• ESPN’s Ashley Fox reports Eagles RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) will play in Week 3’s against the Jets, even though he didn’t practice on Thursday.

Panthers

• Ian Rapoport of NFL Media mentions that the Panthers will likely be without MLB Luke Kuechly (concussion) for Week 3’s game, as he works through the league’s concussion protocol.

Redskins

Redskins HC Jay Gruden told reporters after Thursday night’s game that Kirk Cousins was “fine” and they didn’t consider making a change and going with Colt McCoy during the game.

“No. No. Kirk was fine,” Gruden said, via Pro Football Talk. “Like I said, we’ve got to play better around him. There is no quarterback controversy whatsoever.”
