Vikings
Vikings GM Rick Spielman said they are “very excited” to finalize a three-year contract extension with HC Mike Zimmer.
“Very excited that we’re able to reach a contract extension with Coach Zimmer. Everywhere he’s been, he’s been a winner,” said Spielman, via Chris Tomasson.
Regarding why a deal took this long to finalize, Zimmer said he was working out the details with the Vikings while the pandemic added uncertainty to their situation.
“Sometimes it just takes a while to work out details on contracts,” said Zimmer, via Tomasson.
As for the possibility of re-signing free agent DE Everson Griffen, Zimmer said he would love for the veteran to return.
“I’d love to have him back. He’s always been one of my guys. If that happens, it would be great. But I don’t know where that’s at right now,” said Zimmer, via Tomasson.
