ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cleveland Browns have franchised their Kicker Phil Dawson. The franchise tag for the upcoming season should run the Browns around $3.25 million.
Dawson tied for 18th in field goals made with 23 and made 82.1% of his attempted field goals. The kicker is an underrated position but it’s hard to justify paying a kicker $3 million when your team has plenty of holes on their roster. Hopefully for Browns fans Mike Holmgren and company address those positions or it could end up being another forgetful season in Cleveland.
