NFL Notes: Broncos, Buccaneers, Chargers, Patriots

Broncos

  • Troy Renck mentions that the expectation right now is that the Broncos will place OLB Shane Ray on injured reserve after he hadย two screws in left wrist removed last weekend.
  • Renck adds that putting Ray on injured reserve now would give him time to heal and prepare for the 2018 season.

Buccaneers

Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter explained after Monday’s game that RB Doug Martin was a healthy inactive because he violated team rules.

โ€œThat wasย a violation of team rulesย and itโ€™s done,โ€ Koetter said, via Rick Stroud of theย Tampa Bay Times. โ€œItโ€™s done. Thatโ€™s just one of those things that unfortunately has to happen from time to time. Itโ€™s behind us now, and thatโ€™s all Iโ€™m going to say about it.โ€

Chargers

  • Chargers HC Anthonyย Lynn told reporters thatย LB Denzel Perryman (hamstring) will not play this week, but there’s a chance he could possibly return for theirย regular-season finale.
  • Lynn said he anticipates WR Keenan Allen (back) should be fine.
  • Chargers RB Austin Ekeler suffered a broken hand, but Lynn mentioned that could potentially play the rest of the season with a cast.
  • Lynn said that DL Corey Liuget (knee) probably will not play in Week 16’s game.
  • Chargersย OTs Russell Okung (groin) and Joe Barksdale (knee) are both day to day.

Patriots

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Patriots RB Rex Burkhead was diagnosed with just a knee sprain after his MRI and the team is optimistic he’ll be back for the playoffs.
