NFL Notes: Buccaneers, Colts, Cowboys, Packers, & Titans

Buccaneers

  • The PewterReport still thinks there’s a chance that the Buccaneers could trade RB Doug Martin prior to the season, as they reportedly would like to feature RB Charles Sims.

Colts

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that multiple Colts players aren’t happy with the team’s decision to use a first-round pick on Miami WR Phillip Dorsett.

According to Florio, the thinking around the team is that the Colts should have used their first-round selection on a safety such as Alabama’s Landon Collins or a tackle on either side of the ball.

Cowboys

  • Cowboys CB Brandon Carr told reporters that he hasn’t been approached by the team about his contract, but added that he wants to remain in Dallas. (Todd Archer)
  • Carr wouldn’t talk about his contract situation beyond that. (Todd Archer)

Packers

  • Dan Pompei spoke to a source who told him that Packers HC Mike McCarthy is going to find a way to make the other 31 teams regret not taking UCLA QB Brett Hundley.
  • Tom Silverstein reports that undrafted free agent Oklahoma State DL James Castleman will try out for the Packers.

  1. I still can’t believe the Browns didn’t draft Hundley given their QB situation…glad they didn’t, they would have ruined the kid. He landed on the right team. McCarthy is ecstatic about this pick.

    • It was surprising to see CLE continually pass on QBs in the draft. But this appears to be a pretty good sign that they’re willing to give Johnny Manziel another shot if Josh McCown struggles.
