Packers

Packers veteran G T.J. Lang, who is in the final year of his contract, said he isn’t aware of any contract negotiations wit the team regarding an extension.

There hasn’t been much going on, which is understandable. I’m coming off surgery,” Lang said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Obviously, I think, you won’t really get a contract extension while you’re injured, so (laughs).

“My focus right now is just getting healthy and coming back and being ready to go by training camp and just have another strong year and whatever happens, happens.”

Redskins

Redskins franchise QB Kirk Cousins said there’s “no news” regarding a contract extension right now.

However, Cousins explained his logic in signing the franchise tender shortly after Washington used the designation on him several months ago.

As I’ve said before, the reason I signed the franchise tag as quickly as I did is because I felt it to be a great opportunity for me and a good contract, and I really have no issue with it,” Cousins said, via CSN Mid-Atlantic. “In order to sign an additional contract beyond that, it would need to be a deal that just puts me in a great opportunity and a great spot, because, already, the franchise tag does that.

Cousins added that he’s content with playing out the season under the tag before securing a long-term extension.

I’m very content and I’m ready to go play,” Cousins said. “What’s important is the coming season, the 2016 season. Fortunately, I’m under contract with the Redskins. Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
