NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Cardinals, Jets & Raiders

Los Angeles

Commissioner Roger Goodell said that the NFL is looking at allย possibilities to house a franchise in Los Angeles, and that nothing has yet been “taken off the table,”ย per Andrew Brandt of ESPN.

In addition,ย Tom Pelissero reportsย that Raiders owner Mark Davis said “I don’t know,” in response to the possibility of remaining in Oakland, while admitting that the plans for Carson, Calif. have “went great.”

Moreover, one NFL executive has claimed that the City of Oakland has yet to make a “viable proposal” to the Raiders, via Ian Rapoport.

Cardinals

  • According to Darren Urban, WR Michael Floyd is “hopeful” about returning in time for the regular season opener after he dislocated fingers at Tuesday’s practice. Floyd said he will take things “day to day” at this point in time.

Jets

HC Todd Bowles said that Geno Smith is not guaranteed a starting position upon his re-arrival from the broken jaw he sustained on Tuesday.

That’s a conversation we have to have when he comes back,” said Bowles, via Dan Hanzus of NFL.com. “If anybody’s playing great, you lose your spot by injury, you lose your spot by a bunch of things, so if he’s playing great and the ship is going the right way, you don’t make a move. But we’ll see as we go.”

Smith suffered a broken jaw after being sucker punched by LBย IK Enemkpaliย over a money related dispute.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Smith did not undergo surgery today, but “potentially” could within the next few days.

Raiders

  • Third-round rookie TE Clive Walford returned to practice on Tuesday for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury nine days ago. (Adam Caplan)
