NFL Notes: Michael Sam, Giants, Ravens, & Texans

Michael Sam

  • Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports mentions that Montreal Alouettes are feeling “very good” about DE Michael Sam‘s progress this summer and would be “very surprised” if he doesn’t make his debut tomorrow night…

Giants

  • Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News writes that veteran RB Rashad Jennings is falling down the Giants’ depth chart.
  • Samuel notes that Jennings has taken several second-team reps and special teams reps in training camp up to this point.
  • According to Samuel, free agent acquisition Shane Vereen and Andre Williams have been working with the first-team unit.
  • As for the Giants’ safety position, Samuel believes Bennett Jackson may have the edge for the starting safety job opposite of rookie Landon Collins.

Ravens

  • Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens are going to hold off on signing veteran CB Chris Cook, who visited with the team on Thursday.
  • According to Zrebiec, the Ravens are clearly in the market for a veteran cornerback.

Texans

  • Despite some speculation that the Texans may have interest in free agent RB Chris Johnson, Terry McCormick reports that there’s “nothing going on” between the two parties right now.
