Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune writes that the Chargers do have an offer on the table for NT Antonio Garay, but according to Garayโs agent Drew Rosenhaus, heโs in no rush to sign with a team.
โWeโre still looking for a good home for him,โ said Rosenhaus. โWe are maintaining a line of communication with the Chargers. I donโt know how quickly weโll get a deal done, but I think Antonio is a fine defensive tackle whoโs played extremely well these past two seasons.โ
Garay, 32, didnโt exactly live up to his amazing 2010 season in which he was rated as the #2 best defensive tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus. The Chargers would have to address the position in the draft should Garay choose to sign elsewhere so Iโm sure theyโve made a competitive offer to him, but Rosenhaus appears to be willing to shop around for the time being.
โWeโre working hard to find a good fit for him,โ Rosenhaus added. โThereโs a number of teams interested in him. Weโre just trying to find the right team at the right number and the right situation.โ
We have Garay listed as the #27 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
