We now know for certain that Nick Barnett‘s time in Green Bay is coming to an end. The Packers are planning to shop Barnett but will cut him if they’re unable to find a trade partner.
Tom Kowalski of the Detroit Free Press tweets that the Detroit Lions are one team in particular that should have some interest in obtaining help at middle linebacker.
ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas has added the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the list of potential suitors.
“Barnett is 30 and that may be stretching the limits of Tampa Bay?s youth movement. But Barnett is experienced and could step right in and run the defense if Barrett Ruud departs,” writes Yasinskas.
Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune mentions that Barnett could be a perfect fit for the Chargers who could certainly use some depth at linebacker.
