Adam Schefter reports that Chargers TE Hunter Henry has an “outside chance” to return next month.
Schefter admits that Henry’s return is still considered a “longshot” but there’s at least a chance he’ll be able to rejoin the Chargers in December, despite tearing his ACL during OTAs.
As of now, Henry is running and squatting, has not suffered any setbacks and is feeling good overall.
If the Chargers are able to push for a playoff spot, Schefter says that the odds of Henry returning should not be dismissed.
Henry, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $6.38 million contract that included $3.98 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $1.03 million and $1.32 million over the final two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Henry appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and caught 45 passes for 579 yards receiving and four touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 3 tight end out of 74 qualifying players.
We’ll have more regarding Henry as the news is available.
