Packers RB AJ Dillon Tests Positive For COVID-19

According to Tom Pelissero, Packers RB AJ Dillon has tested positive for COVID-19.

Dillon’s positive test is from Sunday’s pre-game testing, meaning Dillon played 17 snaps while infected with the virus, per Pelissero.

Pelissero adds the team is doing contact tracing to see if there are any other close contacts. If Green Bay loses more running backs, it could potentially have implications for Thursday’s game against the 49ers.

The team is working virtually Monday as a precaution.

So far, there has been no evidence of on-field transmission of COVID-19 through playing football, which is good news for the Vikings. This could impact the Packers more, however.

Dillon, 22, was drafted by the Packers in the second round out of Boston College in 2020. He signed a four-year, $5,285,827 rookie contract that included a $1,404,238 signing bonus.

In 2020, Dillon has appeared in seven games for the Packers and rushed 23 times for 97 yards (4.2 YPC). He’s also caught one pass for 16 yards.

We’ll have more on the Packers as the news is available.
