The Green Bay Packers officially signed LBย Ahmad Thomas to a futures contract on Thursday for the 2018 season, according to Rob Demovsky.
As of now, the Packers have signed seven players to futures deals including:
- WR Jake Kumerow
- WR Colby Pearson
- TE Robert Tonyan
- LS Zach Triner
- WR DeAngelo Yancey
- Gย Kofi Amichia
- LB Ahmad Thomas
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Thomas, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Raiders cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
The Packers later signed Thomas to their practice squad in November.
During his college career atย Oklahoma, Thomas recorded 222 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four interceptions, seven pass defenses and a fumble recovery over the course of 42 games.
