The Green Bay Packers announced the signing of rookie LB Derrick Mathews on Tuesday.
Mathews, 23, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in November of last year. He was brought back on a future/reserve contract, but was unfortunately cut loose just a few days after this year’s NFL draft.
During his four-year college career, Mathews recorded 400 tackles, 43 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, six forced fumbles, two recoveries, nine interceptions with three of them being returned for touchdowns and 14 pass defenses.
