Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer is “told” that the Carolina Panthers view South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram as more of a 3-4 outside linebacker than as a fit for their defensive scheme.
The Panthers run a 4-3 defense, and Person doesn’t see Carolina strongly considering Ingram with their ninth overall pick in the Draft, considering Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly and Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox to be likelier options.
There have been rumblings that Carolina may be looking to trade down in the Draft, but as of Monday there have been no reports of discussions with other teams concerning their #9 pick.
