Panthers Sign LB Jonathan Celestin To Futures Deal

The Carolina Panthers officially signed LB Jonathan Celestin to a futures contract for the 2019 season on Thursday.

As of now, the Panthers have signed 15 players to futures deals including:

  2. LB Brandon Chubb
  3. DB Cole Luke
  4. DB Kai Nacua
  5. DT Elijah Qualls
  6. G Ian Silberman
  7. G Landon Turner
  8. WR DeAndrew White
  9. LB Antwione Williams
  10. T Isaiah Battle
  11. DB Quin Blanding
  12. DT Woodrow Hamilton
  13. WR Andre Levrone
  14. DB Josh Thornton
  15. LB Jonathan Celestin

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Celestin, 23, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Falcons but wound up being cut loose coming out of the preseason.

Celestin had brief stints on the Chargers and Jets’ practice squad this past season.

During his four-year college career at Minnesota, Celestin recorded 217 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, three forced fumbles, a recovery and seven pass defenses over the course of 40 games.
