According to Albert Breer, the Panthers brought in four running backs for workouts on Wednesday.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- Pete Guerriero
- Taquan Mizzell
- Rodney Smith
- Mark Thompson
Mizzell, 26, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in 2017. He was among Baltimore’s final roster cuts as a rookie but was quickly claimed by the Bears.
Chicago signed Mizzell to their practice squad the following season and was eventually promoted to their active roster before getting waived in August of 2019.
The Saints signed him to their practice squad in September of last year and was re-signed to a futures contract this offseason. However, New Orleans cut him loose last month.
In 2018, Mizzell appeared in nine games for the Bears and recorded nine rushing attempts for 16 yards (1.8 YPC) and no touchdowns, to go along with eight receptions for 78 yards receiving (9.8 YPC) and one touchdown.
