Patriots Designate WR Malcolm Mitchell To Return From IR

The New England Patriots have designated WR Malcolm Mitchell to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, according to Mike Reiss.

This officially opens a three-week window of time for the Patriots to add him to their active roster or he’ll spend the duration of the 2017 season on injured reserve.

Mitchell, 24, was taken in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2.917 million contract that included a $577,992 signing bonus with the Patriots and stands to make a base salary of $540,000 for the 2017 season.

The Patriots placed Mitchell on injured reserve at the start of the regular season.

In 2016, Mitchell appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and caught 32 passes for 401 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
