Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots have placed a second-round restricted tender on CB Jonathan Jones.
The second-round tender will cost them $3.095 million for the 2019 season and ensure that they receive a second-round pick for him if they decline to match an offer he receives from another team.
Jones, 25, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2016. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1.62 million contract and made a base salary of $630,000 for the 2018 season.
In 2018, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and recorded 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
