Gronkowski, 23, wound up signing on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State back in May. He managed to make the 53-man roster a few weeks ago, but will not have to pass through waivers before signing on with a team of his choosing.
Gronkowski signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Bills but was waived a month ago. The Patriots signed him to their practice squad two weeks ago before waiving him last week.
During his three-year college career, Gronkowski totaled 51 rushing yards on 16 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 369 yards receiving and six total touchdowns.
Gaffney, 24,ย is a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He was in the third year of hisย four-year, $2,316,600 rookie contractย and setย to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.
The Patriots wound up claiming him off of waivers from the Panthers in 2014ย after Carolina cut him loose with the intention of getting him through waivers. New England ultimately waived him coming out of the preseason with an injury designation.
After clearing waivers, Gaffney reverted to their injured reserve list before he was later cut loose with an injury settlement at the start of the season.
At Stanford,ย Gaffney ran for 2,500 yards on 486 carries (5.1 YPC) and scored a total of 37 touchdowns over the course of four years.
