According to Nick Underhill, the Patriots are releasing WR Dontrelle Inman from the 90-man roster.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports Inman requested his release from the Patriots and the team obliged. The move opens up a roster spot for Josh Gordon.
Inman signed with the Patriots this offseason on a one-year deal.
Inman, 30, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in 2011. Jacksonville decided to waive him shortly afterward and he remained unsigned before joining the Chargers in 2014.
The Chargers re-signed Inman to a one-year restricted deal worth $2.746 million for the 2017 season before trading him to the Bears for a conditional seventh-round pick. He later agreed to a one-year contract with the Colts last October.
In 2018, Inman appeared in nine games for the Colts and caught 28 passes for 304 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.
