Field Yates of ESPN reports that theย Patriots have signed starting G Josh Kline to a two-year contract worth a base value of the deal is $3.3 million.
- According to Yates, the agreement can be worth as much as $4.9 million and will keep him under team control through the 2017 season.
Kline, 25, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2013. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad during his first year, but wound up appearing in 12 games for them last year.
Kline was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $585,000 for the 2015 season. He would have been a restricted free agent next year.
This season, Kline has appeared in eight games and rates as the No. 24 guard out of 81 qualifying players, according to Pro Football Focus.
