Patriots Tried Out DT Xavier Williams

The New England Patriots brought in free agent DT Xavier Williams for a tryout on Wednesday, according to Mike Reiss.Xavier Williams

Patriots DT Beau Allen has been absent from practice, which has created at least some concern from the team about their interior defensive line depth.

Williams recently visited the Buccaneers, but left without a deal in place.

Williams, 28, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2015. He wound up playing out his three-year, $1,583,000 contract with the Cardinals.

The Chiefs signed Williams to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent in 2018 after Arizona tendered him with the original round designation. He was awarded to Kansas City after the Cardinals declined to match.

In 2019, Williams has appeared in five games for the Chiefs and recorded eight total tackles and one forced fumble.

We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
