According to Nick Underhill of The Athletic, the Patriots brought in five free agent kickers for tryouts on Wednesday including Kai Forbath and Blair Walsh.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- K Kai Forbath
- K Elliott Fry
- K Mike Nugent
- K Blair Walsh
- K Matthew Wright
This comes shortly after the news that Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski is lost for the season with a hip injury.
Forbath, 32, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. Forbath had brief stints with the Buccaneers, Redskins, Saints and Vikings before signing on with the Jaguars last December.
Jacksonville released Forbath back in February.
In 2018, Forbath appeared in three games for the Jaguars and converted 4 of 5 field goal attempts (80 percent) to go along with all three extra point attempts.
Walsh, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2012. He’s was in the second year of his five-year, $13.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.15 million for the 2016 season when the Vikings cut him loose during the 2016 season.
Walsh later signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Seahawks last year before signing on with the Falcons during the preseason. He was released soon after.
In 2017, Walsh appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and converted 21 of 29 field goal attempts (72.4 percent) to go along with 37 of 38 extra point tries (97.4).
