Patriots Waive QB Garrett Gilbert

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots are waiving QB Garrett Gilbert on Thursday.

This comes after a report mentioned that the Patriots brought in former Packers QB Matt Flynn for a workout earlier in the week.

Gilbert, 23, is a former sixth round pick of the Rams. However, his time in St. Louis was short lived as he was waived at the start of the 2014 season before later signing to the Rams’ practice squad.

The Patriots wound up signing Gilbert to a future/reserve contract in February, but it appears as though they would prefer to go in a different direction in regards to a reserve quarterback.
