Raiders Interested In Re-Signing NaVorro Bowman, Also Looking At LB Zach Brown

Michael Gehlken reports that the Raiders want a veteran in their linebacker room and have expressed interest in re-signing ILB NaVorro Bowman.

Beyond that, Oakland has reportedly shown interest in Redskins ILB Zach Brown this week.

Bowman said towards the end of the 2017 season that he was hoping to be back with the Raiders next year and doesn’t see any reason why they wouldn’t want him back.

“I still study the same way,” Bowman said, via Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area. “I still feel like I can play this game at a high level. I feel like I can average 10 tackles a game. I don’t see why they wouldn’t sign me back. I’d love to stay. I like the area. I like the team and the organization. Hopefully we can make it happen.

Bowman, 29, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was in the second year of his seven-year, $77 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.75 million for the 2017 season when the 49ers released him.

The Raiders later signed Bowman to a one-year, $3 million contract and he’s now in position to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Bowman has appeared in 15 games and recorded 127 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

Brown, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2012. He finished his four-year rookie contract with Tennessee before signing a one-year, $1,250,000 contract with the Bills as an unrestricted free agent in 2016.

After finding less interest than anticipated, Brown agreed to a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the Redskins.

In 2017, Brown appeared in 13 games and recorded 127 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two pass defenses for the Redskins. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 52 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

We have both players featured in our Top 100 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
