Adam Caplan reports that the Raiders and OL coach Mike Tice have reached an agreement on a new contract, ensuring he’ll be back in Oakland for the 2017 season.
Tice, 57, began his NFL coaching career with the Vikings back in 1996 as their tight ends coach. He worked his way up to head coach during his 10 years with the team.
After his contract wasn’t renewed, Tice coached for a few teams including the Jaguars, Bears and Falcons before the Raiders hired him to coach their offensive line in 2015.
As the Vikings’ head coach, Tice led the team to a record of 32-33 (49.2 percent) over the course of five seasons, which included one playoff appearance.
