Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Raiders have signed veteran OL Jonathan Cooper to a contract on Monday.
The Raiders have already confirmed the news and announced that they’ve waived WR Montay Crockett.
It’s interesting to see the Raiders continue to bring in more depth at guard after they signed Richie Incognito to a contract last month. It’s worth mentioning that Incognito has been suspended for the firs two games of the regular season.
Cooper, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. The Cardinals traded him to the Patriots as part of the Chandler Jones‘ trade, but New England declined to pick up his fifth-year option and later cut him loose in 2016.
The Browns later claimed him off of waivers from New England but he lasted just a few months in Cleveland. After brief stints with the Cowboys and 49ers, Cooper signed on with the Redskins in November of last year.
Cooper was later placed on injured reserve with a torn bicep tendon.
In 2018, Cooper appeared in three games for the Redskins.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
