Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Rams are set to make significant changes to their defensive coaching staff and a front office shakeup is considered “likely.”
Rumors have been circulating that Rams DC Wade Phillips‘ future in Los Angeles and La Canfora says he’s “virtually certain not to be back” along with assistant HC/LBs coach Joe Barry. La Canfora adds that it’s been apparent for weeks that changes are coming to the Rams.
Sean McVay has lost a number of notable offensive assistants in recent years and La Canfora says he will be looking to add veteran coaches to his staff next year.
League sources have told La Canfora that several scouts and evaluators are expected to move on next year and there will likely be additions to the player personnel department. However, the Rams are not expected to make moves at the team president or general manager level.
The Rams are without their first-round pick in 2020 and will have limitations in terms of cap and cash to work with, so it will be interesting to see what they elect to do to turn things around after missing the playoffs this year.
We’ll have more regarding the Rams as the news is available.
