Jim Thomas ofย the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that former Vikings LB Ben Leber will be meeting with the St Louis Rams on Wednesday. Yesterday’s reports of the Rams signing Leber were premature to say the least.
ESPN’s John Clayton also reported that the Leber was visiting with the Seattle Seahawks but ultimately left without a contract.
At this point in the free agent market, interest has cooled to the point that players will have to be willing to take a small, one-year deal or hope for an injury to get signed. The good news for those looking for jobs is that the lockout has cut into the amount of conditioning time that players have had up to this point which has increased the overall number of serious injuries. As of yesterday there have been 10 Achilles tendon injuries which averages out to over one a day. Players will continue to find jobs in the coming days but the contracts won’t be great.
