According to Adam Schefter, the Rams are open to trading veteran CB Aqib Talib.
Schefter reports the Rams are looking to free up cap space in the future to sign CB Jalen Ramsey to an extension. He adds the Rams had talks to trade Talib within the past couple of weeks but Talib opposed the move and turned down the chance to be traded.
Talib is currently on injured reserve with fractured ribs and is eligible to return later this season. He’s also in the final year of a six-year, $57 million deal.
Talib, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2008. He spent four years in Tampa Bay before joining the Patriots in 2012.
The Broncos later signed him to a six-year, $57 million contract that includes $26 million guaranteed before trading him to the Rams last year for a fifth-round pick.
Talib stands to make a base salary of $8 million for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Talib has appeared in five games for the Rams and recorded 14 tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses.
We’ll have more on Talib as the news is available.
