The St. Louis Rams officially promoted WR Nick Toon to their active roster on Friday.
- Rams placed DB Eric Patterson on season-ending injured reserve.
Toon, 27, was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.51 million rookie contract when he was released by the Saints as they reduced their rosterย to 53-players coming out of the preseason.
Toon worked out for a few teams before eventually signing on to the Rams practice squad a few weeks into the season.
In 2014, Toon appeared in seven games and caught 17 passes for 215 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Saints.
Patterson, 22, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out ofย Ball State following this year’s NFL draft.ย However, he lasted just a month in New England before he was waived and later signed to the Colts’ practice squad.
The Rams elected to sign him to their practice squad a few months ago before recently promoting him to their active roster.
This season, Patterson appeared in three games and record three total tackles.
