Mike Silver of NFL Media reports that the Rams are working to re-sign four of their impending free agents including OT Andrew Whitworth, C Austin Blythe, DL Michael Brockers and pass rusher Dante Fowler.
Whitworth, 38, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He spent 11 years in Cincinnati before signing a three-year, $33.75 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Rams in 2017.
Whitworth made a base salary of $10.25 million for the 2019 season. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2019, Whitworth started all 16 games for the Rams. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 28 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
Fowler, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was traded to the Rams a few years ago for a 2019 third-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick.
Fowler played out the final year of his four-year, $23.5 million rookie contract and returned to the Rams last year on a one-year contract worth $14 million.
In 2019, Fowler appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 58 tackles, 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery, a defensive touchdown, and six pass defenses.
Brockers, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $9.522 million rookie contract when the Rams picked up his fifth-year option.
From there, Brockers agreed to a three-year extension worth over $33 million and includes more than $16 million guaranteed. He’s now in line to be an unrestricted free agent.
In 2019, Brockers appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 63 tackles, three sacks and a pass defense.
We have Whitworth, Fowler and Brockers included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
