Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have informed DE Chris Canty that they will not be picking up his 2016 option.
- According to Zrebiec,ย Canty still wants to continue his NFL career and isn’t ready for retirement.
- Adam Caplan mentions that Canty had a $150,000 roster bonus due on March 9.
Canty, 33, returned to the Ravens last year on aย two-year, $4.65 million contractย thatย included a $1.5 million signing bonus. He was set to make a bases salary of $2 million for the 2016 season.
This move will save the Ravens close toย $2 million in cap room for the 2016 season, according toย Zrebiec.
In 2015, Canty appeared inย nine games for the Ravens and recorded 19 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense.
