Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Redskins first-round WR Josh Doctson will need a few more weeks before he’s ready to return from hisย Achilles injury, but the team believes he can ultimately avoid being placed on injured reserve.
A few weeks ago, Redskins HC Jay Gruden told reporters that was “very concerned” about Doctson’s Achilles injury.
“We’re not trying to rush him. We’re just trying to see how he’s doing every day,” Gruden said of Doctson.
According toย Gruden,ย tests didn’t shown any further damage and this will ultimately come down to “pain management” for Doctson.
Doctson, 23, was taken with the No. 22 overall pick, which was a bit of a surprise pick for Washington. He signed a four-year, $10.049 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.
This season, Doctson has appeared in two games for the Redskins and caughtย two passes for 66 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
We’ll have more regarding Docton and his return as the news is available.
