JP Finlay of NBC Washington reports that the Redskins are placing RB Derrius Guice on injured reserve Friday after he underwent knee surgery earlier in the week.
- John Keim adds that DL Caleb Brantley is also headed to injured reserve.
The Redskins are dealing with a number of injuries right now and need the roster spot for a healthy player.
Guice is a candidate to return from injured reserve in the second half of the season.
Guice spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve after tearing his ACL last preseason, but he picked up this injury to his other knee sometime in the last few weeks.
This should open the door for Adrian Peterson to see a good amount of work while Guice is out.
Guice, 22, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2018. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $4,541,936 contract that includes a $1,383,224 signing bonus.
In 2019, Guice has appeared in one game and rushed for 18 yards on 10 carries (1.8 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 20 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
