The Redskins have promoted DB Maurice Smith from the practice squad to the active roster, per ESPN’s John Keim.
To take Smith’s place on the practice squad, Washington signed WR Emanuel Hall.
Smith, 24, wound up signing on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in 2017. He managed to make the Dolphins’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but was among the team’s final roster cuts a few weeks ago.
The Dolphins later signed Smith to their practice squad after he cleared waivers. Since then, he’s been on and off of their Dolphins’ active roster. Washington signed him to the practice squad back in October.
In 2018, Smith appeared in seven games for the Dolphins and recorded five tackles and one pass defense.
