Josina Anderson reports that the New York Giants have signed DT Barry Cofield to a six-year contract.
Cofield had already made it known that his time with the Giants was coming to an end and several reports had the Redskins as a likely suitor. Because of his position, there were a number of other teams that had been suggested at different points throughout the offseason but Mike Shanahan and company ultimately won out.
Washington is still expect to pursue Packers DT Cullen Jenkins so their defensive line could end up looking much different in the coming days.
