Redskins Signing DE Matt Ioannidis To Three-Year, $21.75M Extension

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Redskins are signing DE Matt Ioannidis to a three-year extension with a base value of $21.75 million and includes another $3 million in incentives.

According to Ian Rapoport, Ioannidis gets $14 million guaranteed as part of this new contract.

Ioannidis, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2,340,000 contract and set to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season.

Ioannidis would have been an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Ioannidis appeared in 14 games for the Redskins and recorded 31 tackles, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 64 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
